Speaker meeting. Finds Liaison Officer for Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire Meghan King offers a fascinating insight into the recording of small finds of archaeological interest which are over 300 years old and found by members of the public. Based at Derby Museums and Art Gallery, Meghan’s role sees her visiting other museums across the region and hosting ‘Finding Days’ recording small find and recording objects which qualify as Treasure under the Treasure Act 1996. Meghan previously worked for the Treasure team at the British Museum as a Treasure registrar.
This talk will introduce the Portable Antiquities Scheme and the Treasure process and provide an overview of interesting finds from the counties.
All welcome, £3 at the door for non-members including tea/coffee and biscuits after the talk, or become a member of our friendly group for £12 p.a.
