Trauma Informed/Sensitive Approach to clinical settings 7 CEU Course Description Understanding the prevalence of trauma in our society is the first step in working with it in your touch-based practice. In this brief introduction, we will discuss what trauma is and how it relates to our scope of practice. Understanding how our clients may process trauma could play a role in how we approach our treatments. Our clients voluntarily put themselves in a vulnerable position with us, it's our responsibility to ensure we are doing our best to reduce harm and promote a therapeutic environment.
Learning Objective:
Students will walk away with a beginners approach to working with the prevalence of trauma while staying within their scope of practice.
Students will recognize how their language and creating the therapeutic relationship will effect their clients outcome.
Students will see how their desires for the outcome of the session should be separate from the desires of the client.

Students will understand the prevalence of trauma in our culture and be able to name 5 key principles to trauma informed care.
Students will see how adopting a trauma informed practice will improve the likelihood a client will return to their practice.
Students will begin to have the tools in language to speak with intention and the resources to continue to study.
