About this Event
On the occasion of the American release of their celebrated feature film ARSA, artists and filmmakers duo Masbedo and producer Beatrice Bulgari will join contemporary art curator Leonardo Bigazzi.
Arsa, an eighteen-year-old girl, collects waste stranded on her home island, a nature reserve, and produces art using what is around her. Join us for this talk about the vision behind the story and its main character, and the journey that led to the film’s creation, within the broader context of the nearly twenty-year collaboration between Beatrice Bulgari and Masbedo.
From their early experiments across contemporary art to the development of a feature-length film, the discussion will consider the possibilities of translating their artistic practice into cinema. It will also touch on the anecdotes, encounters, and production challenges that have emerged over the years from working across the worlds of contemporary art and cinema, and on how navigating between these two fields has shaped their shared practice.
A Q&A and reception will follow.
