FAQ
Do I need any experience? No. This practice requires nothing except a willingness to show up and breathe. Your body already knows how to do this.
What if I feel overwhelmed during the session? You are always in control. If the experience becomes too intense, simply slow your breath down - that's your dial. I'll be moving through the room throughout the session and you can open your eyes to find me at any point.
Will I have to share or speak in front of the group? No. The sharing circle at the close is an invitation, not a requirement. You're welcome to simply listen.
What should I eat beforehand? Eat lightly. A heavy meal before breathwork is uncomfortable. Give yourself at least 2 hours after eating before the session.
Is this safe? Conscious Breathwork is safe for most people. There are a small number of contraindications - if you have a history of cardiovascular issues, epilepsy, severe anxiety, recent surgery, or are pregnant, please reach out before booking so we can discuss whether this is right for you.
How is this different from meditation or yoga? Breathwork goes deeper and faster than most meditation practices. You're not trying to still the mind - you're using the breath to move past it entirely. It's also physically more active than most meditation and very different from yoga. Many people who have tried both say breathwork reaches places the others don't.
What if I cry or make noise? Good. That's the work. Everyone in the room is there for the same reason. What happens in the room stays in the room.
How will I feel afterward? Most people feel lighter, clearer, and more present. Some feel tender or emotionally open for a day or two after - that's normal integration. Drink water, move slowly, and be gentle with yourself.
