These aren’t lectures where you sit back and take notes. And they aren’t traditional obedience classes where we teach your dog a list of commands.
You’re going to DO things.
You’ll investigate behavior clues. Solve training puzzles. Analyze real-world scenarios. Test different approaches. Build training plans. Work through challenges with other dog people.
And while you’re doing it, you’ll develop practical skills you can take home to your own dog:
🔎 Read canine body language and recognize what your dog is communicating
🧠 Figure out what’s driving a behavior
🎯 Choose training strategies based on how dogs learn
🛠️ Build a plan for real-life behavior challenges
🔄 Adapt when your first approach isn’t working
🚦 Recognize when to intervene and how to set your dog up for success
🤝 Communicate more clearly and build a stronger relationship with your dog
Dogs are welcome, but they aren’t the students. You are.
Beyond Obedience is designed to help you understand, connect, adapt, and guide your dog toward success in a human world.
Developed by local Madison City educator Emily Stephenson, certified in Canine Behavior & Training through the Animal Behavior Institute.
