Board the 'Train to Sligo' for a masterclass in songwriting with acclaimed hit songwriter. Whether you are new to songwriting, would like a better understanding of how to compose a song, or need that extra little push, this songwriting workshop will cover song structure, choosing a theme, chord progression, creative writing/lyrics, melody, arrangement & performance. You can collaborate with other like-minded individuals under the guidance of Luan. You don't have to play an instrument to participate in the workshop but we encourage anyone who plays an instrument to bring it along on the day!
Also, once we arrive in Sligo, you will have the option to join a historic walking tour with us, which is included in the price!!
Luan Parle has extensive experience teaching songwriting to people of all ages. Over the past 15 years, Luan has facilitated songwriting workshops for many organisations including Waltons, IMRO & The Department of Education. Having had numerous hits and accolades, Luan has written and recorded with some of the world's most successful award-winning songwriters & producers including Grammy award-winning Bill Bottrell (Michael Jackson, Prince, Elton John) & Billy Steinberg (Madonna, The Bangles)
The idea of the event was based on a song called , by an American singer and songwriter Thom Moore who wrote the song and recorded it whit his band, and Pumpkin Head and also Maura O'Connell.

Departure from Dublin Connolly Station to Sligo
Info: The event will have its own designated coach where Luan Parle will do the workshop during the train journey to Sligo. You're encouraged to bring your instruments along, but if you don't have one, that's totally fine too!

The train arrives to Sligo
Info: Upon arrival in Sligo, you'll have free time (4 and 1/2 hours approximately) until the journey back to Dublin. The station is conveniently located near the city centre, offering numerous attractions to explore in Sligo.

Walking Tour (Optional)
Info: Join John O'Flynn for a walking tour through Sligo’s rich history. Starting at the WB Yeats statue, the tour will explore landmarks like the 19th-century Town Hall, the Famine Monument, Sligo Courthouse, and the 13th-century Abbey ruins. You’ll cross the John Fallon footbridge to visit the Model arts centre, uncovering stories of the town’s past along the way. This optional tour is included in the event price. After the tour you will have a bit of time to either visit the Model or get a coffee somewhere before the train back.
