Traditional Christmas Wreath Workshop at Gibside Stables
Saturday 28th November, 11am - 2pm
💥 Gibside Stables is approximately a 20-minute walk from the reception building and includes mixed terrain and a steep-incline, so we’d recommend arriving onsite at least 30 minutes before the workshop begins and wearing sturdy footwear.
Join me at beautiful Gibside for our longest Christmas wreath workshop of the year!
Spend up to three lovely hours getting into the Christmas spirit, creating your very own Christmas wreath using beautiful seasonal foliage and festive decorations. A relaxed and creative way to start the Christmas season, with plenty of time to make something truly special.
We'll start by mossing your wreath ring before binding a selection of festive, seasonal foliage onto the mossed frame. You'll learn how to build your wreath from the beginning, creating a lovely full base ready for decorating.
Then comes the fun part... choosing your decorations!
You'll have three different styles to choose from, so you can create something that suits your own taste and your home.
🎄 Traditional
A classic Christmas palette of reds and greens, including artificial red berries, dried fruit, pinecones and other festive touches.
🍋 Country Classic
A more pared-back, natural style with a lovely country feel, featuring lemons, feathers, pinecones and seasonal elements.
❄️ Winter White
A beautiful frosty palette with artificial white berries, dried fruit and other elements for a softer winter look.
To finish your wreath, we have a large selection of pre-made bows for you to choose from. With so many different styles and colours, you're bound to find something you like!
Once your wreath is complete, we'll add a backing to help protect both your wreath and your door, so it's ready to hang and enjoy throughout the festive season.
Whether you're making a wreath for your own front door, creating something special as a gift or simply looking for a lovely way to spend a few hours, I'd love to welcome you along.

Admission & Access Information
- When you arrive at Gibside, please show proof of your workshop booking at the welcome buildings to gain free admission to the site.
- If you’re a National Trust member, please have your membership card scanned at admissions as usual.
Accessibility
- An access bus is sometimes available to help visitors reach the Stables. It runs from the Market Place up to the Stables at quarter past the hour, and back again at half past the hour.
- If you’d like to use the bus, please email before your visit to confirm it’s running on the day. If it isn’t, we’ll do our best to help arrange an alternative for you.
Biosecurity
- To protect and conserve the landscape of Gibside, we bag and seal all plant material that enters and leaves the site. Therefore we ask you to also seal your designs in the bags we will provide as you leave.
