Join acclaimed pianists Ben Frith and Heidi Rolfe for a captivating four-hand journey “Towards Romanticism”. Beginning with Beethoven’s Waldstein Variations, the programme traces the changing musical landscape of the early Nineteenth Century through the elegance of Weber, the atmospheric Pictures from the East by Schumann, and the exuberance of Brahms’ Hungarian Dances.
The concert concludes with Rimsky-Korsakov’s dazzling Scheherazade, in a spectacular four-hand piano arrangement. From intimate lyricism to vivid orchestral-style colour, this programme showcases the extraordinary range of expression possible from two pianists at a single piano, celebrating the imagination, virtuosity and growing freedom of the Romantic era.
