About this Event

TOUCH GRASS CLUB

You’ve been told to touch grass. So we made plans.

Touch Grass Club is a low-pressure, phone-free afternoon in Prospect Park for remote workers, freelancers, creatives and anyone whose average weekday involves a suspicious amount of screen time.

No panels. No awkward professional networking. No productivity hacks.

For 2.5 hours, we’re putting our phones away, sitting on the grass, sharing a simple plant-based picnic and actually spending time with people in the same place.

When you arrive, you’ll receive your Grass Report - a playful card inspired by a social-media stats screen. Instead of followers and likes, you’ll record things like:

Hours spent outside this week

Days eaten lunch away from a screen

Last time you did absolutely nothing productive outdoors.

Then your phone goes into a fabric phone sleeve that stays with you for the afternoon. We never take possession of your device, and emergency use is always okay.

From there, choose your own pace.

Join a casual conversation circle. Throw a frisbee. Play chess or cards. Lie on a blanket. Have a snack. Meet someone without immediately asking for their LinkedIn.

There are a few lightly facilitated rotations to help people mix, but this is not speed networking and not a workshop. You’re also welcome to stay with one group if the conversation is good.

What happens at Touch Grass Club

Guests settle into several shared picnic-blanket zones rather than one large formal circle.

There will be three loose activity areas:

The Picnic Patch - plant-based snacks, bottled tea and water, relaxed conversation.

The Play Patch - cards, chess, conversation games and casual lawn activities.
The Do-Nothing Patch - sit down, stretch out, read, stare at a tree or talk to whoever sits beside you.

No microphones. No presentation deck. No mandatory introductions in front of 40 people.

The signature moment: The Grass Report

At the beginning of the afternoon, everyone fills out their personal Grass Report.

Near the end, we regroup and flip the cards over for one last prompt:
“What do you want to spend less screen time doing - and more real - world time doing?”

Then we take one official group photograph on the lawn.

Nobody holds a phone.

Only the event photographer/organizer takes the photograph, and attendees receive the image afterward.

Guests who prefer not to appear in photographs can simply step outside the photo area.
