Urban Wildfires & Community Gardens: Cultivating ecological novelty in cities, presented by Dr. Aaron Sexton (Cornell University)

In this talk, Aaron will discuss his research in two starkly different urban ecosystems, remnant forests and community gardens, and the role that spontaneous ecological processes can play in supporting biotic heterogeneity. He will then discuss ongoing and upcoming projects aimed at investigating biotic heterogeneity in our cities and efforts that municipalities and landowners can take part in to facilitate biodiversity in their city, neighborhoods and green spaces.

Aaron is an Assistant Professor at Cornell University studying urban ecology. Before coming to Cornell Aaron was a postdoc in France and Germany for a few years studying their urban ecosystems.
