About this Event
Hammond B-3 organ. Guitar. Drums. In the hands of these three musicians, that classic combination opens up a world of possibilities: blues-soaked melodies, hard-swinging jazz, simmering funk, and spontaneous exchanges that make live music so exciting.
Experience it up close at The White Lilac, where every seat puts you within reach of the music.
Tony Monaco — Hammond B-3 organ
A powerhouse of jazz organ, Tony Monaco brings an infectious energy and a deep connection to the instrument’s soulful roots. Inspired by Jimmy Smith at age twelve and later mentored by him, Monaco developed his craft in the jazz clubs of Columbus, Ohio, with guidance from organ greats Hank Marr and Don Patterson. His breakthrough recording, Burnin’ Grooves, was produced by fellow B-3 master Joey DeFrancesco. Expect rich organ tones, rolling bass lines, and the kind of groove you feel as much as hear.
Fareed Haque — guitar
Named “Best World Guitarist” in Guitar Player magazine’s 2009 Readers’ Poll, Fareed Haque moves effortlessly among jazz, classical music, blues, and global influences. His career includes recordings for Blue Note, collaborations with Sting, Paquito D’Rivera, and Joe Zawinul, and co-founding the adventurous band Garaj Mahal. With Monaco, his imagination and command of the guitar meet the warmth and fire of the B-3—a partnership built for both deep listening and joyful exploration.
Tommy Campbell — drums
Tommy Campbell brings a remarkable musical history to the drum chair. He has performed with Dizzy Gillespie, Sonny Rollins, John McLaughlin, The Manhattan Transfer, Kevin Eubanks, and his uncle, Hammond organ legend Jimmy Smith. Raised in a musical family outside Philadelphia, Campbell attended Berklee College of Music and received its Distinguished Alumni Award in 1998. His experience reaches across generations and styles, bringing rhythmic imagination, sensitivity, and drive to this trio.
Together, Monaco and Haque have taken their organ-trio sound to stages including the Chicago and Detroit jazz festivals, New York’s Blue Note, and Chicago’s Green Mill. Now you can hear that musical conversation in the intimacy of our downtown Kenosha listening room.
Tony and Fareed filled the house on their last visit. Reserve your seats early for their return, this time featuring Tommy Campbell on drums.
