Tony Furtado took up the banjo at 12 after watching The Beverly Hillbillies, and things got out of hand from there. He’s now a two-time National Bluegrass Banjo Champion, a slide guitar wizard, a soulful singer-songwriter, and (just to make the rest of us feel lazy) an award-winning sculptor.
His sound blends bluegrass, blues, folk, and rock into one big Americana stew, and he’s served it up everywhere from Telluride Bluegrass Festival to tours with Gregg Allman and Derek Trucks.
