About this Event
Tom Sleigh, Chairman of City of London’s Planning and Transportation Committee, recently chaired the high profile committee meeting on the controversial redevelopment of Liverpool Street Station and has also handled a surge in planning applications, reflecting strong demand for new office space and sustainable commercial buildings in the Square Mile. The committee approved a record number of schemes in 2025 and a busy start to 2026 highlights ongoing growth.
On his appointment in May last year Sleigh said “I want the most beautiful and future-ready buildings in the country to rise in The City - architecture that lifts our spirits as much as our skyline. These must be designs that help shrink our carbon footprint, honour our heritage and make The City irresistible to young people: a place to work, thrive and belong, drawn by its culture, sustainability and care for wellbeing.”
Tom Sleigh is also Chair of Goldsmiths, University of London, Chair of the South Bank Employers Group and Co-chair of the Mayor of London’s Cultural Leadership Board. His professional background includes senior roles at Amazon UK and the BBC. He is a Fulbright Scholar and Cambridge graduate.
