Water has always been one of music’s most powerful symbols, and this season we begin there. On Friday, November 6, Concert Singers of Cary opens the 2026-27 season with To Be Sung on the Water, an evening of music about rivers, seas, and our thirst for things both timeless and new.The program follows water through the deepest longings in us: spiritual connection and redemption, a weary traveler’s yearning for home, an enslaved people’s wish for freedom and identity, and the fragile beauty of love. You’ll hear settings of Psalm 42 by Handel, Mendelssohn, and Howells, alongside works by Samuel Barber, Benjamin Britten, Margaret Bonds, and more.
In our latest Blog post by Ellen Schloemer, Artistic Director Mark Woodcock puts it, “This music speaks directly to what we yearn for and what sustains us.” Read the full blog post here: https://concertsingers.org/welcome-to-concert-singers-of-carys-2026-27-season/
This concert also gives back. In partnership with the Friends of the Wake County Soil and Water Conservation District, proceeds will benefit this nonprofit’s work to protect our local waterways. Your ticket brings an unforgettable evening of live choral music and helps preserve the rivers and streams of our own community.
The concert begins at 7:30 pm at The Cary Arts Center. Tickets are $7 for students and $27 for adults, and you can reserve yours at the Cary Arts Center box office using the button below. Seating is limited, so we encourage you to buy early. Bring a friend, a neighbor, or your whole family. We would love to share the opening night of our season with you. Tickets are available now!
