About this Event
Join a conversation with the 19th and 21st Surgeon General of the United States and New York Times best-selling author, Dr. Vivek Murthy, about his book: Together: The Healing Power of Human Connection in a Sometimes Lonely World. In Together, Dr. Murthy makes a case for loneliness as a public health concern: a root cause and contributor to many of the epidemics sweeping the world today from alcohol and drug addiction to depression and anxiety. Loneliness also has implications far beyond our health: it affects how children experience school, how we navigate and perform at work, and the sense of division and polarization felt across the country.
was chosen as this year's selection for the Common Book Program, a partnership between the Tufts University School of Medicine and Tisch College, for all incoming medical students.
Following Dr. Murthy’s tenure as Surgeon General, he founded The Together Project, an initiative to prioritize social connection and community building in America. As part of this effort, he hosts Staying Human, a podcast and Substack community exploring how we can live truly fulfilling lives grounded in belonging, joy, and meaning.
