* Louis Prima
Louis Prima was a Grammy winning Italian-American composer, singer, trumpet player and bandleader from New Orleans best known for his exuberant onstage personality, raspy voice, and composition of the classics “Sing Sing Sing” and “Jump, Jive, an’ Wail.” In the 1950s he led one of the first musical acts to regularly perform in the lounges and casinos in Las Vegas. His musical style encompassed New Orleans jazz, swing, big band music, boogie-woogie, rhythm & blues, and Italian Folk Music. His performances were renowned for their humor and liveliness.

* Lee Dorsey
Born in New Orleans, Lee Dorsey was a former professional boxer who turned to music and opened an auto repair shop simultaneously. He recorded some of the biggest R&B hits of the 60s, most in collaboration with the great Allen Toussaint including ‘Ya Ya’ which went to #1 on the charts, 'Ride Your Pony,' 'Working in a Coal Mine,' and 'Get Out of My Life Woman.’ “When you hear his voice in just about any song, it sounds like a smile” said Toussaint. Dorsey’s charm personified the spirit of New Orleans and his influence reached beyond R&B music to such acts as the Beastie Boys and the Clash, who chose him as their opening act in 1980. His catalogue is essential listening for anyone interested in New Orleans funk.
