About this Event
Tiny Book Club Live in Nashville Wednesday, December 2nd at 7:00 PM CT
We will be reading F. Scott Fitzgerald's 1922 short story "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" and comparing it to David Fincher’s sweeping 2008 film adaptation. This is one of Chuck & Claude's all time favorite movies, and it's a real conversation starter! While they share the same title and premise, you'll find that the book is a sharp, cynical comedy while the movie is a massive, emotional romance. It is going to make for an incredible discussion! Meeting Details
- Date: December 2nd, 2026
- Time: 7:00 PM CST
- Location: 127 Old Liberty Pike, Franklin TN 37167
The Homework
- Listen To The Story: You can listen to the audio book on Youtube or check it out at your local library.
- Watch the Movie: The 2008 adaptation starring Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett is currently available to stream or rent via Amazon Prime Video.
Things to Keep in Mind While Reading/Watching:
- How does the tone completely shift from Fitzgerald's biting satire to Hollywood's grand romance?
- Which version of "reverse aging" did you find more creative—being born as a fully grown, talking 70-year-old (the book) or an arthritic baby (the movie)?
- Did the tragic, romantic ending of the film feel earned, or did you prefer the book's harsher reality?
Can't wait to see you all bundled up for a great night of debate! Please RSVP by December 2nd so we can plan for snacks/drinks.
RSVP and bring a friend. Some ideas are better explored together.
