About this Event
Note: This talk will take place in the MCR Pavilion at the Weston Buildings, St. Cross Road (not New College main site)!
The Psilocybin Access Rights (PAR) campaign has developed below and between the grassroots, sprawling across the UK. Through activations at parties, conferences and music festivals the campaign has spread its spores far and wide to reach the hearts and minds of the policymakers who could facilitate research and patient access to psychedelic medicines. This talk will introduce the campaign and how it has been inspired by the mushrooms themselves. You can expect to learn about the history of efforts to change the law in the UK and abroad, what the future of psychedelic-assisted therapy in the UK might look like and how you can get involved in making it happen.
Timmy Davis works on the clinical and political interpretation of psychedelic experience. He is director of Psychedelic Policy and Regulation at the Centre for Evidence Based Drug Policy (CEBDP), through whom he co-founded and runs the Feilding Commission. He is the founder of The Psychedelic Experience Clinic and also policy director and co-founder of the Psilocybin Access Rights (PAR) campaign and a trainee at the Site for Contemporary Psychoanalysis. He is currently writing a book titled The Interpretation of Psychedelic Experience, exploring how psychedelics work by destabilising established interpretative frameworks, and the clinical and political consequences that follow.
