About this Event
Christmas is when families come home to each other. For many families in Louisiana, there is an empty chair at the table.
Rob and I lived that for 21 years. We know what it means to need hope at the holidays.
So this Christmas, Rich Family Ministries is opening the doors for an evening for incarcerated and formerly incarcerated families: families still waiting for someone to come home, and families who are finally together again. Come as you are. No one will be asked to explain or apologize. You will be welcomed and honored, and you'll go home with a gift.
In times like these in Louisiana, we want to give families hope that their loved ones can come home one day.
Law, policy and film students and faculty, advocates, and anyone who cares about families are welcome too.
What to expect
- 6:30 PM: Doors open. Hot cocoa, cider and Christmas music. A special gift for the first 25 kids to arrive.
- 7:00 PM: Welcome, and excerpts from TIME II: Unfinished Business, the sequel to the Oscar-nominated film TIME, now streaming on Amazon Prime Video
- A conversation with Fox and Rob Rich, with a moderator to be announced and questions from the audience
- 8:30 PM: Closing. Families go home with their Joy Bags.
The Joy Bag
We are filling 100 Joy Bags for 100 families. Inside:
- A copy of the book TIME
- A way to watch TIME at home, and TIME II for some families
- Christmas cards and stamps to write a loved one inside
- Calling credit to hear that voice on Christmas
- Holiday treats
- A PDM NOLA resource card for family support, legal help and reentry
