Participant Guide
FOREWORD: This event was putt on hiatus for a year. But I've retired and have a little time on my hands and would like to support some amazing athletes. Previous events were a lot of fun. There was rain, frost, some wind, warm soup and an LED-lit runway finish line (THANKS GARY!!). Nobody got hurt (ok, maybe some minor overuse injuries), and we raised some $$ for the Mood Disorders Society of Canada’s “Move for Mental Health” campaign.
So let’s do it again!
It’s not a race, let’s call it a fun run, we just want some friends to get together to run. But there will be 200 mile stickers and 100 mile stickers. This year’s event will again be a fundraiser, any money in excess of expenses will be donated to
the Mood Disorders Society.
● Parking on the property will be limited to registered runners only. Support crew can park on the shoulder of Seiling Road.
● Since it’s a fundraiser, we’re asking that EVERYONE who shows up make a donation. Runners fees are listed below, pacers and support crew are requested to donate a minimum $10.00. (it’s not a fee, it’s a donation, donations of $25 or more will get a tax receipt)
UNOFFICIAL: We’re calling the event Three Days in the Park, or 3DIP for short, but unofficially it will be the Stahr Wahrs Ultra. We can’t afford a legit Star Wars license, so we’ve had to use a different spelling, and for the support crew the “H” stands for “hammered”. Nobody will be discouraged from wearing or bringing Star Wars gear.
EVENTS: 72 hour run starts at 9:00 am on Thursday October 1st, 48 hour run starts at 9:00 am on Friday October 2nd, 24 hour run starts at 9:00 am on Saturday October 3rd, all events end at 9:00 am on Sunday October 4th.
COSTS: Participation costs are as follows: 72 hour is $125, 48 hour is $90, 24 hour is $50. (This is to cover the cost of portapotties and a few supplies)
POTLUCK AID STATION: Most runners who would consider a 72 hour run will have their own routine and their own recipe for foods and drinks that work for them. Rather than try to stock an aid station that has everything for everyone, the aid station will be bare bones with water, bananas, potatoes and salt. Each runner will have to bring their own supplies, and if there is something you can share with the others, put it out on the aid station table.
REGISTRATION: If you'd like to avoid the raceroster fee, you can contact me directly and pay by EFT. Otherwise you can register at: https://raceroster.com/events/2026/118884/three-days-in-the-park
Each participant is encouraged to run a fundraiser for the Mood Disorders Society of Canada's Move for Mental Health campaign. There is a fundraising platform available with all of the tools
needed to let people know what you are doing and why.
THE ROUTE: It’s a one mile loop with a little hill, short and steep. And maybe a second, bonus hill.
LOCATION: The entrance is on Seiling Road north of Elmira, Ontario, 1.5 km east of Arthur Street North. There will be limited parking, so car pooling would be good. The site is a grassy field with
a hill and there will be plenty of room to set up tents.
