Approx 6 miles, largely easy going but with one rocky ascent. This route is named for the the three packhorse bridges included, crossing the river Bradford twice, and the Lathkill, over a particularly charming weir. Setting out and concluding through the quirky village of Youlgrave, and taking in a section of the Portway, this is a history rich route. Grassland sections offer an opportunity for a canter, and with some ascent, views are expansive towards the Stanton, and Haddon Estates. If it is desired, a splash in the river can be included. Worth Noting:
Some roadwork is necessary, mainly on quiet lanes, but village sections may be busier.
There is one tricky ascent on rocky going, and a low branch, which may be difficult for riders of taller horses.
Two of the packhorse bridges are typical, having low sides which do not enclose the horses into the bridge. One may be avoided by fording the river.
Livestock may be present both on and alongside the route.
Sections of the route may be stony.
Parking is best suited to smaller lorries and trailers. Max charge £9.60 for all day. Payment by card or app.
All riders must have their own Public Liability Insurance. Under 18s are welcome, but on a first visit must be accompanied on the ride by an adult rider. Group size is limited to 6+ guide.
