About this Event
Threads of Our Testimony is a four-session intergenerational storytelling and tote-making workshop series that brings generations together through memory, fabric, and sewing.
Participants are invited to begin with a meaningful piece of their personal or family history a person, memory, tradition, photograph, scripture, object, or story that they want to carry forward. Throughout the series, we’ll spend time sharing and reflecting on these stories before exploring how color, texture, and fabric can help us tell them in a new way.
From there, each participant will design, cut, and sew a one-of-a-kind tote bag inspired by their story.
But our individual stories are only part of the project.
Fabric from each participant’s tote will also be contributed to a larger collective bag created for the church. This final piece will bring our individual fabrics together as a reflection of the many people, families, memories, and generations that make up our shared church history.
The completed individual totes and collective church bag will be celebrated as part of our Church Anniversary.
No sewing experience is necessary. Guidance will be provided throughout the entire process.
Space is limited to 10 participants, and registration is intended for those who can participate in the full four-session experience.
Come with a story. Leave with something you made with your own hands and a piece of your story carried forward.
