About this Event
You’ve sewn with African fabric. You’ve worn it, sourced it, admired it.
But have you ever stood where it comes from and experienced how it’s created?
Threads of Ghana is a 10-day immersive travel experience set in one of West Africa’s most vibrant and culturally rich countries. This trip is designed specifically for sewists, textile lovers, and creative travelers who want a vacation that reflects who they are.
This is not a workshop trip with a few tourist stops added on. And it’s not a standard Ghana tour with a fabric market visit thrown in. It’s a fully balanced, carefully curated vacation where your love of textiles becomes the lens through which you experience everything — the history, the people, the food, the coastline, and the extraordinary craft tradition that has been shaping global fashion for generations.

Your Host
This trip is created and hosted by Awo, a Ghanaian‑American sewist who has spent years developing a deep appreciation for Ghana’s textile and fashion ecosystem, and who wanted to share it with the people most likely to truly appreciate it: other makers. Her aim is to build a community of adventurous sewists who travel together to experience the history, culture, and beauty of textiles while curating a fabric stash with stories behind every piece.
She is joining forces with TIA Tours by Afropolitan Cities - One of the premiere African travel companies to bring something unique and different. Your host is someone who already belongs to this place, who speaks your creative language, and who will walk alongside you throughout the journey. That combination is what makes this experience different from anything else available.
