About this Event
In 1925, Scotland played their first ever game at Murrayfield Stadium. They opened this new home with a landmark result, defeating England for the Grand Slam. This was the first in a long line of epic encounters that would take place on that hallowed turf over the next century.
In This is Murrayfield, celebrated rugby writers Peter Burns and Rob Robertson curate 100 of the most memorable, significant and sometimes quirky fixtures to have been played at Murrayfield over the last 100 years, with a particular focus on matches against New Zealand ahead of Scotland’s clash with the All Blacks on 7 November. This is an insightful, fun and fascinating record of some of the greatest moments in Scottish rugby history.
Peter Burns has been a sports editor and writer for nearly twenty years. He is the author of eleven critically-acclaimed books on rugby and golf and is co-host of The Offside Line podcast.
Rob Robertson is an award-winning Scottish journalist, author and playwright. He has covered the last five rugby World Cups and is old enough to have been in the Murrayfield crowd for the 1984 Grand Slam home games and all the ones in 1990.
Guy Richardson was an officer in the British Army for 20 years and in 2004 joined The Scottish Rugby Union as the Scotland National Rugby Team Manager. Following this in 2010, Guy became the Director of Operations for The British and Irish Lions Rugby Team, a job in which he was accountable for everything off the field of play. His collaborative leadership enabled him to get the very best out of stakeholders, all working to the one goal.
