theShift + Pivot
Sometimes the detour is the direction.
This month's speakers are Mika-Taché St. Fleur, brand strategist and founder of Saint MGMT, and Josh Epperson, museum exhibition writer, activist, and brand strategist.
Our October conversation centers on the pivot. Not as a highlight reel moment. Not as a clean before and after. But as the real, often messy, sometimes terrifying decision to change direction when something is no longer working — or when something better is calling.
As Black creatives, we pivot constantly. We navigate industries that were not built for us. We outgrow rooms that once felt like home. We make decisions with incomplete information, under pressure, and sometimes without anyone to tell us it is going to be okay.
This conversation explores what it actually looks like to pivot — how you know when it is time, how you make the move when the path is not clear, and the honest truth about whether every pivot leads to where you hoped it would.
