Come along and enjoy this series of hands on therapeutic horticulture workshops for the queer community. Take something home each session!
About this Event

Bridge Queer Gathering presents a series of workshops by Shani Shafrir from Well Grown.

All the workshops in this series can be attended individually or come along to all 4 to experience an immersive journey of learning. Shani creates workshops that emphasise community connection and learning in a relaxed, welcoming and inclusive space.

Workshop 3: Composting and Worm Farms at home
Learning the basics of composting to suit any space, output and capacity. From compost bays, to worm farms, we learn how to start and maintain a healthy system at home, how to troubleshoot and solve problems in our compost and accepting it won’t always go to plan.

Participants will get to take home a bag of compost at the conclusion of the session.

This workshop runs for 2 hours, following which you are welcome to attend the community lunch run at Bridge Darebin, a gold coin donation gets you a two course meal and the chance to connect with other community members.

*Shani Shafrir is a therapeutic horticulture practitioner and founder of Well Grown. Through gardening and nature-based programs, Shani helps people develop a gentler relationship with themselves while creating inclusive spaces that support wellbeing, connection and belonging.

Shani designs and facilitates group programs with community organisations, creating practical, gentle and deeply human experiences. Her work is grounded in hands-in-the-soil gardening, seasonal rhythms and relationship-building, and values collaborative practice and the shared learning that emerges when people come together.

She is particularly passionate about embedding therapeutic horticulture in everyday community settings, where it is accessible, flexible and responsive to the people involved.*

Bridge Queer Gathering acknowledges the traditional owners of the land that we hold these workshops on, the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin nation, and pays respects to their elders past and present. We recognise their ongoing connection to land, waters, culture and community and that sovereignty was never ceded.
