About this Event
The Maine Jewish Museum is traveling to the Jewish Community Alliance for Southern Maine to lead a joyful evening celebrating the music, spirit, and cultural legacy of Theodore Bikel, z”l, hosted by Aimee Ginsburg Bikel. The Casco Bay Tummlers will lead the fun with lively Yiddish music and dancing — including songs associated with Theo and a few beloved favorites from Fiddler on the Roof.
And because every good party revolves around the food, we’ll be serving a festive Yiddish breakfast-for-dinner buffet piled high with comfort and nostalgia: tender blintzes with blueberry and cherry sauce, sweet noodle and savory broccoli kugels, bagels with all the fixings (lox, whitefish salad, and schmears galore), kasha varniskes, potato knishes, black-and-white cookies, ruggelach, and more. There will be mimosas, seltzers, and — for the adventurous — perhaps even a celebratory splash of slivovitz.
