Learn how to plan, produce and re purpose a business podcast, whether you have no budget or up to £1,000 per episode.
About this Event

You do not need an expensive studio, a large production team or thousands of listeners to create a podcast that delivers genuine value for your business.

But you do need the right strategy.

The £0–£1,000 Podcast Playbook is a practical, 90-minute, in-person workshop designed to help business owners, marketers and content creators develop a podcast that builds authority, creates valuable content and supports their wider marketing and sales objectives.

Whether you are planning to record on your phone with virtually no budget or invest up to £1,000 per episode in professional production, this session will help you make better decisions about where to spend your time and money. Your budget can improve production quality, save time and give you access to specialist support. However, money cannot compensate for an unclear concept, an inconsistent process or content that does not matter to your audience. This workshop will help you understand what really makes a business podcast effective and identify the right approach for your organisation.

The workshop forms part of Crawley Innovation Centre’s Work From Here Wednesday initiative, which gives local business owners, freelancers and entrepreneurs the opportunity to work from the centre’s coworking space and connect with other members of the local business community.

Building on previous Work From Here Wednesday sessions covering LinkedIn, sales and marketing, this workshop explores how podcasting can bring those disciplines together in one repeatable content system.

What you will learn -

During the workshop, you will discover:

  • How to define the audience, purpose and commercial role of your podcast
  • How to develop a distinctive concept, title and format
  • What podcast production looks like at different budget levels, from £0 to £1,000 per episode
  • How to choose topics that address the questions your ideal clients are already asking
  • How to record using a smartphone, remote recording platform or professional studio
  • How to turn one podcast conversation into video clips, LinkedIn posts, articles, newsletters and other content
  • How to make your podcast easier to discover through search
  • How to create a practical, sustainable production process
  • How to measure whether your podcast is supporting your wider business objectives

You will also begin creating a simple action plan for launching or improving your own podcast.

Who should attend? -

This session is ideal for:

  • Business owners and founders
  • Marketing and communications professionals
  • Consultants and professional-services firms
  • In-house content teams
  • Organisations considering launching a branded podcast
  • Existing podcasters who want to generate more marketing value from every episode

You do not need any previous podcasting or production experience.

About your presenter -

The workshop will be presented by David Pawsey, an award-winning journalist, podcaster and content strategist.

David is the founder of deepsocial, a Crawley-based podcast and content studio that helps organisations turn expert conversations into engaging podcasts, videos and wider marketing content.

Drawing on his experience in journalism, content strategy and podcast production, David will share practical lessons from developing and hosting business and consumer podcasts, including what works, what wastes time and how to build a more manageable production process.
