Actor Peter Fernbaugh transforms into the celebrated short story writer, poet, and literary critic, Edgar Allan Poe for this Chautauqua-style program featuring poetry readings, Q & A, and a reading of “The Tell-Tale Heart.” Take a deep dive into the macabre world one of America’s greatest writers. Weirton native Fernbaugh is a teacher and actor. The West Liberty graduate also leads a troupe that performs the monthly Cloak & Dagger On the Air, a live production that specializes in the art of “radio drama."Presenter Bio:
Pete Fernbaugh is a writer, actor, director, podcaster, and educator from Weirton, W.Va. He is the co-executive producer and head writer of the monthly anthology theatrical series, Cloak & Dagger On the Air, which presents his original plays and sketches, brand-new adaptations of classic works by L. Frank Baum, Agatha Christie, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, and Edgar Allan Poe (among others), and occasional reimaginings of classic radio dramas, in the style of live Old Time Radio. Cloak & Dagger On the Air begins its 10th season in February 2027 at the Top of West Virginia Convention and Visitors Bureau in Weirton with The Road to Oz by L. Frank Baum. Pete's audio adaptations of L. Frank Baum's Land of Oz novels have received support and acclaim from the International Wizard of Oz Fan Club and have been featured in its quarterly publication, The Baum Journal.
Pete also cohosts the Trinity Talk podcast series from Trinity Health System in Steubenville, Ohio, and frequently performs in productions at Towngate Theatre, appearing most recently as Eli in the original play Places by Butch Maxwell, and Brooke Hills Playhouse, where he directed Clue, the closing show for this past summer's 55th season. He is also a regular member of the Mystery Theatre Unlimited troupe, based in Wheeling. In the past, he worked with Oglebay Institute on a variety of grant projects, teaching writing, improv, theatre, and audio drama to middle and high school students at Bridge Street Middle School, Oak Glen Middle School, Triadelphia Middle School, Oak Glen High School, and Weir High School. Each July, he performs with the Whiskey Rebellion Street Theatre troupe at the Whiskey Rebellion Festival in Washington, Penn., where he typically play Alexander Hamilton, whom he also portrays for various historical groups in the Tri-State. Every Christmas season, he dons the red suit and white beard as Santa Claus for Foster Fine Art Portraits in Moundsville and also makes appearances for the big guy in Wheeling and Washington.
Currently, Pete is developing the multimedia series, The Wayfaring Stranger, and writing the first novel in his Original Sin series. He is honored to perform as Edgar Allan Poe today and is grateful to Christina Fisanick for first asking him to play Poe last summer at the Wheeling Arts Festival. Pete is married to the lovely and gracious Bethany Allison, is the proud uncle to 15 nieces and nephews, and is managed by his three kittykids: Rory, Alexandra, and Theodore.
