Merging ancestral, indigenous regalia and motifs with contemporary silhouettes, this solo exhibition, “The Words Stuck In Your Throat Have Grown Teeth,” by Cali M. Banks, touches on intergenerational transmission of knowledge and the adaptability of tradition through alternative photographic processes. Cali M. Banks (Munsee Lenape/Scottish) is an interdisciplinary artist based in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She holds an M.F.A. in interdisciplinary media arts practices from the University of Colorado Boulder and a B.A. in art and technology and global health studies from Allegheny College.
The exhibition will be on view Sept. 25-Nov. 7. An opening reception will be held on Friday, Sept. 25, from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
