About The Woodbox Gang:
Hailing from the little village of Makanda, Illinois, WOODBOX GANG has been making its own rules since 1999, combining bluegrass, Delta blues, outlaw country, rockabilly, and the aggressive attitude of punk rock into a sound that's entirely their own.
With dark, poetic storytelling and an arsenal of unconventional instruments, the Gang has built a reputation for turning just about anything into music. We're talking banjos, mandolins, washboards, musical saws, kazoos, gutbuckets, rusty gasoline cans, and whatever else gets the job done.
Their wonderfully strange brand of roots music has taken them across the country, including performances at the Kennedy Center, Wakarusa, and Telluride Bluegrass Festival, with releases on Jello Biafra's legendary independent label, Alternative Tentacles.
