THE WINTER MAKING MARKET featuring THE BIG WREATH MAKE
Following the wonderful response to our market last year, we knew that for Winter we needed more space, more parking and an even bigger experience.
So this year, we are creating something very special:
THE WINTER MAKING MARKET with THE BIG WREATH MAKE at Ardingly Showground
The market will be held at Ardingly Showground in the Jubilee Building, giving us plenty of space to create a truly beautiful seasonal market. The venue is close to a large car park and offers easy access for unloading, as well as a much more comfortable experience for visitors should the winter weather be as inclement as it was last year!
The market will take place on Saturday 28th November, from 10am–4pm, helping us to maximise visitor numbers and create a busy, atmospheric day.
THE WINTER MAKING MARKET
We want the hall to feel abundant, seasonal and inspiring — filled with everything needed to make something beautiful for winter.
We are looking for a wonderful mix of growers, makers and creators offering:
Seasonal greenery, berries, dried flowers and seed heads
Floristry sundries and wreath-making materials
Willow wreath bases and natural supports
Hand-dyed ribbons
Ceramics and vessels
Botanical art and unique botanical makes
A carefully selected range of finished wreaths from florists and wreath makers
Finished wreaths will be an important part of the market, giving visitors inspiration before encouraging them to have a go at creating something of their own.
At the heart of the market will be our most exciting element:
THE BIG WREATH MAKE
Positioned centrally within the hall, visitors will be able to purchase a ready-prepared wreath-making kit, watch demonstrations from some of Sussex’s best wreath makers, and then make their own wreath there and then.
Once they have created their wreath, they can explore the market to find additional ribbons, berries, dried flowers, seed heads and other beautiful botanical elements to personalise their finished piece.
We feel this combination of watching, making and shopping will create a unique market experience — one that will appeal to both experienced makers and complete beginners, and make the event especially exciting for the general public.
WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We would particularly love to hear from:
GROWERS
Seasonal greenery, berries, dried flowers, seed heads and other locally grown botanical materials.
WREATH MAKERS & FLORISTS
Beautiful finished wreaths, demonstrations and inspiring seasonal work. We will have a selection of florists and so many of you applied we are going to add a section to our website 'THE WREATH DIRECTORY' which we will feature on the website broken down by region so those who are not involved in the market can have a presence we will also feature this on our socials
MAKERS OF SUNDRIES
Willow wreaths, ceramics, hand-dyed ribbons, floristry materials and other products designed for making.
BOTANICAL CREATORS & ARTISTS
Botanical artists and makers producing distinctive, original work inspired by plants, flowers and the natural world.
This is not a traditional gift market, although we do feel a small, carefully considered gifting element will complement the event beautifully — for example botanical cards, wrapping papers and other relevant botanical pieces.
SET-UP
Where possible, we would prefer stallholders to set up the day before the market, allowing us to make sure the whole space is looking beautiful and completely ready before the doors open on Saturday morning.
