You have spent decades becoming competent. You are good at your work, steady for your family, the one other people lean on. Somewhere along the way the part of you that could be a beginner went quiet, because being a beginner was no longer safe, or useful, or allowed.
This is fourteen days to wake that part back up.
Not a vacation, and not a course. A pilgrimage. You leave your life far enough behind that you cannot reach back and manage it. You put your body in the hands of an art older than the country you flew from. You sit in the dark before dawn. You are worked on, fed, undone, and put back together, slowly, with twenty other men who came for the same reason.
The Place
Kalariyil Dharmikam Ashram sits in the lush countryside of southern Kerala, surrounded by tropical gardens, organic farmland, and the quiet of village India. Founded in 1983 and built over decades by Guru Balachandran Nair, the ashram is a living center for Kalaripayattu, Ayurvedic healing, and spiritual practice. Today it is led by his son, Dr. Girish Nair, who bridges traditional Kalari healing with modern medicine.
You will stay in traditional, sun-filled accommodations with private bathrooms and open verandas looking out over the gardens. Three vegetarian meals a day, prepared from the ashram's own organic farm. No resort. No performance. A real place where the work has been done for generations.The Practices
The practices are real and they are ancient. They are not the point. They are the road.
Kalaripayattu. The warrior tradition of Kerala, learned from the ground up in a low stone training pit before the heat comes. Every man starts as a beginner. That is the design.
Ayurveda and Kalari Chikitsa. The ashram's healing center practices an ancient system of medicinal-oil massage, marma therapy, detoxification, and rejuvenation. Treatments are individualized and daily.
Meditation and Dharma. Silence before dawn. Inquiry at midday. The inner work that holds everything else together.
The Shape of the Fourteen Days
The two weeks move in three movements. The first days are for arriving and emptying, for the nervous system to finally believe it is allowed to stop. The middle is the work, the deepest and least comfortable stretch, where the art and the medicine and the silence do what they do. The final days are for integration and return, so that what happened does not evaporate on the flight home.

- Morning: a meal, then rest
- Midday: dharma and inquiry
- Afternoon: Ayurvedic treatment and bodywork

This is for the man who has climbed enough, and knows it, and has not yet found the next thing worth climbing. Who can feel that the next chapter is not more of the same, only larger. Who is willing to be a beginner in front of other men, which is the hardest thing competent men ever agree to do.
It is not for everyone, and it is not meant to be.

Not Included
- International airfare. You will need spending money only for offsite days, mostly for anything you choose to carry home.
The Invitation
Twenty men. February 13 to 27, 2027. Kerala, South India. Six thousand five hundred dollars, airfare apart. A fifteen hundred dollar deposit holds your place. When the circle is full, it is closed.
