About this Event

Join us and discover the little-known story of the 'Idle Women' with guest speaker Alastair Clark.

While the vital role of the Women’s Land Army during the Second World War is well known, the stories of other women who volunteered on the home front are less familiar.

This Lunchtime Talk explores the lives of the women who helped keep Britain’s canals moving during the 1940s, uncovering their experiences and the important contribution they made to the wartime effort.

Please note: this venue is only accessible via stairs and is therefore not suitable for wheelchair users. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
