Tring Theatre Company presents The Threepenny Opera. Have you got your tickets yet?
“There are the five basic types of misery, those most likely to touch the human heart. The sight of such types puts a man into the unnatural state where he is willing to part with money”
The Threepenny Opera is a darkly comic, razor-edged musical that drags you through the alleys of London, where beggars, thieves, and corrupt officials all hustle for survival. At its centre is the infamous Mack the Knife, a charming criminal whose marriage to Polly Peachum sparks a clash between the city’s underworld and its so-called respectable elite.
With Kurt Weill’s smoky, cabaret-infused score and Brecht’s biting satire, the show exposes a world where morality is flexible, justice is for sale, and everyone - rich or poor - is on the make.
