**Four musicians. Two counties. One seriously exciting new jazz quartet.**The Tamar Project is a brand-new band created to celebrate the exceptional jazz talent found on both sides of the River Tamar.
Handpicked by drummer Ronnie Jones, the quartet brings together two musicians from Devon and two from Cornwall—chosen according to three essential criteria: brilliant players, lovely people and a perfect 50/50 county split.
From Cornwall come acclaimed tenor saxophonist Roberto Manzin and exceptional bassist James Macphail. Representing Devon are wonderfully gifted pianist Will Butterworth and Ronnie Jones on drums.
Originally from Rome, Roberto Manzin is one of the country’s most formidable saxophonists. Described as “scorching” by Time Out and “easily a match for Brecker or Bergonzi” by Jazzwise, his extraordinary CV includes performances and recordings with Martha Reeves and the Vandellas, Donna Summer, Dave Weckl, Jim Mullen and Jason Rebello—as well as an appearance on Italian television with James Brown.
