The Storytellers have cemented their place as a creative force in the Southern California roots music scene with their dynamic progressive bluegrass sound. The band draws from a deep well of traditional bluegrass, country blues, old-time, and folk music to create inspired improvisations and compelling vocal harmonies that resonate with audiences everywhere.
Their remarkable musical chemistry produces soulful harmonies, nuanced acoustic arrangements, soaring grooves, and substantive storytelling—all delivered with their signature “hippie bluegrass” vibe that transforms every performance into a memorable experience.
The Storytellers have performed on the stages of numerous prestigious bluegrass festivals, including the Huck Finn Jubilee, Calico Bluegrass Festival, Good Old Fashioned Bluegrass Festival, and Desert Bluegrass Festival. Their 2024 highlights include headlining the prestigious Prescott Bluegrass Festival and sharing the stage with bluegrass legend Peter Rowan at the Brookdale Bluegrass Festival. The band has been a regular fixture at June Lake Jam Fest and has performed at large county fairs throughout Southern California.
In 2022, The Storytellers held a year-long residency at Treasure Island Casino and Resort in Las Vegas, while continuing to establish themselves at other distinguished venues. Their groundbreaking achievements continued in 2023 when they became the first bluegrass-style band to perform on one of NAMM’s premier stages. In 2026, the band performed at Dodgers Stadium's 4th of July Celebration.
The Storytellers are Scott Diehl (Guitar, Vocals), Lance Frantzich (Bass, Vocals) and Steve Stelmach (Washboard, Percussion).
