✨ WHAT IS STORYCRAFT?
Part writing workshop, part expressive arts laboratory and part performance workshop, Storycraft approaches storytelling as an embodied practice.
We use movement, sensory exploration, improvisation, writing, voice and play to uncover the stories that still have something to say.
Then we look for the pearl inside them. 💫
The insight, discovery or hard won wisdom that allows a deeply personal experience to become a shared human story.
From there, we craft, rehearse and bring our stories to life in performance.

🌿 HOW THE HYBRID FORMAT WORKS
Our Zoom sessions give us the intimacy and focus to dive into story discovery, embodied writing and the process of shaping our personal monologues.
When we gather in person at Root & Bloom, we take those stories off the page and into the body. Through movement, expressive arts, improvisation, voice, physical storytelling, play and performance, we explore new ways of inhabiting and expressing the stories we've written.
Finally, we bring it all together onstage at our Storycraft Student Showcase. 🎭
No previous writing or performance experience is necessary.
All genders are welcome.

✨ ABOUT RAINA SATORI
Raina Satori is a performance artist, comedian, improviser, producer, director and facilitator with more than 25 years of experience creating, performing and teaching at the intersection of storytelling, comedy, movement, improvisation and expressive arts.
As a producer and performer, Raina has created and brought to the stage original productions including The Ridiculum Curriculum, Stairway to Haven, and The Improverse. Her performance work also includes the spiritual satire productions More Enlightened Than You and Love and Laughter Ever After, as well as So This Is Menopause, which she performed in and co-produced for its Nevada City production.
Raina is also the longtime captain of the Shamanic Cheerleaders, an irreverent performance troupe that was named Best of the Bay and appeared on America’s Got Talent.
Alongside her original performance work, Raina holds a degree in Expressive Arts Therapy and spent four years studying with pioneering dance artist Anna Halprin, during which time she also performed with Halprin’s Sea Ranch Collective. She went on to spend approximately 15 years teaching contact improvisation.
Her work draws from decades of experience with physical theater, improvisation, comedy, movement, storytelling and ensemble performance, with a particular love for the places where humor, vulnerability, embodiment and personal truth collide.
Storycraft Sessions grew out of this unusual combination of disciplines.
Raina created Storycraft as a place where the body can unlock memory, improvisation can reveal the unexpected, writing can give lived experience form, and performance can transform a deeply personal story into something that resonates with an audience.
She guides participants from the first spark of an experience through discovery, embodiment, writing, crafting and rehearsal, ultimately bringing their stories to life onstage.
✨ Ordinary lives contain extraordinary stories.
Discover yours. Craft it. Embody it. Share it.
Turning lived experience into shareable wisdom. 📖✨
