About this Event
The Story Salon is a regular evening for people who love stories.
We'll meet on Wednesday 11th November, from 7 to 9pm at the Rivolo Lounge in Norwich.
Many of us carry a story about ourselves that we have told for years: "I'm not creative." "It's too late to start." "I should be further along by now."
The Salon gives you time to choose one story you've been carrying, reflect on it and then rewrite it.
How the evening runs:
- 7:00pm: Arrive, collect your drink and settle in.
- Opening talk: A short introduction that sets out the theme for the evening.
- Writing: A few exercises, guided by me, and writing time.
- Sharing (optional): In pairs and with the whole group.
- 8:45pm: Closing reflections. Rivolo serves food until 9:30pm if you want to stay on.
Taking part
Nothing is compulsory. Write as much or as little as you like. Share if you want to, or just listen. You don't need writing experience, you don't have to share your writing or read aloud, and you don't need to have been to a Salon before. This is a friendly, inclusive space to explore your stories with compassion.
You'll leave with
- A reframed story, and a starting point for further self relfection
- Your own writing from the evening
- Conversations and connections with the other people in the room
- An invitation to the Story Retreat on 28th November 2026
Your host
I'm Shauna Madhavan, a story coach and the founder of The Story Salon™. Before I became a coach, I was a barrister, a UNHCR Protection Officer and an immigration lawyer. I have an MA in Creative Writing and I'm a ICF-certified coach.

Food is not included. Rivolo's restaurant is open for orders until 9:30pm.
