"The story of Princess Anna Porphyrogenita"

A Porphyra Foundation Musical Inspired by Penelope Delta’s Byzantine Epics.

Come witness Emperor Basil II’s sister, Anna Porphyrogenita, and her heroic Adventures!

Due to popular demand, "Porphyra, a Grecian Rock Opera" is spotlighting Byzantine Princess Anna Porphyrogenita, in this new story telling cycle, for the Astoria Greek community. The new show is expanding Anna's background story in “Anna and Vladimir: The love that ROCKED the world,” which debuted at Carnegie Hall and Off Broadway.

Set in the year 988 AD, the Heroic Age of Basil II Emperor of Byzantium, the story chronicles Princess Anna Porphyrogenita and her world-rocking marriage to Grand Prince Vladimir of the Kievan Rus. An incredible story of Love, War and Peace brought to life through Hard Rock and Greek Folk music, dancing, actors, and a full rock orchestra.

With participation from St. Demetrios Student Clubs and featuring G.A.F.S. and the Greek American Folklore Society.
