About this Event
Join NMITE for an inspiring evening with engineer, filmmaker and creative leader Neal Hartman.
Drawing on an extraordinary career spanning engineering, particle physics, film and design, Neal will explore a simple but powerful idea: what if the principles of great storytelling could help us become better engineers?
Far from a traditional technical lecture, this engaging talk will take audiences on a journey through some of the world's most fascinating engineering challenges and creative pursuits. From designing and racing the world's fastest tandem bicycle, to producing TED-style talks at CERN and leading the internationally recognised CineGlobe Film Festival, Neal will reveal how narrative has shaped both his work and his approach to solving complex problems.
Engineering is often seen as purely analytical, but every breakthrough has a story. Like the greatest films, engineering projects begin with inspiration, encounter setbacks, overcome obstacles and ultimately strive for a successful conclusion. Neal will demonstrate how understanding this narrative arc can help engineers create better designs, make more meaningful decisions and persevere through the inevitable challenges of innovation.
Whether you're an engineer, designer, student, creative professional, or simply curious about the relationship between science, creativity and human ingenuity, this lecture promises fresh perspectives, fascinating stories and plenty of inspiration.
