Twenty years ago, The Stage became a place where poets, musicians, storytellers, artists, and people from across our community could come together, step up to a microphone, and be heard.
It was never just an open mic.
It was community. It was connection. It was a place to tell the truth, share a story, discover new talent, make lifelong friendships, and experience what can happen when we create space for people's voices.
Now, 20 years later, we're bringing The Stage back for one unforgettable night.
Welcome to The Stage: A Spoken Word Gala(ish) 20th Anniversary Celebration.
Why Gala(ish)?
Because this isn't your typical gala.
Yes, you can dress up. Yes, we're celebrating something special. But leave the long speeches and stuffy ballroom energy at home.
Expect an evening filled with spoken word, live performances, music, storytelling, laughter, nostalgia, connection, and a few surprises.
Some of the voices that helped make The Stage special will return to the mic, and we'll also celebrate where this journey has led us.
Because this anniversary isn't only about the past.
The Next Generation Gets the Mic
Proceeds from the evening will benefit the National Poetry Month Youth Summit, helping create opportunities for young people to discover the power of their own voices through poetry, creative writing, storytelling, public speaking, mentorship, and the arts.
Twenty years ago, we created a stage for our community.
Today, we're helping create one for the next generation.
