About this Event
Designers specify fabric every day, yet few can say where the weave originated, how the construction was developed, or what historical circumstances shaped the material they hand to a client. The Craft and Commerce of Cloth closes that gap in a single day and turns it into something usable. Attendees leave with material literacy that changes client conversations, sourcing decisions, and the way they describe their own work.
The day will go something like this:
8:30 Arrivals/light bites + coffee
9-12 Educational programming:
- keynote by The Lifestyle Historian
- conversation with interior designer Gary Inman
- Into the Archives with Baxter Mill
12-1 Lunch
1-2:30 Programming
- Designer collaboration panel
2:30-4 Textile Tours/Interwoven exhibitors
4-5 Reception
Single tickets are $99 each. Bring a colleague and enjoy two tickets for $170.
After you register for The Source, please register for Interwoven, the fabric trade fair of the International Textile Alliance. You must get a badge for Interwoven to access The Source.
The Source is a continuing trade education program produced by The Lifestyle Historian™ and High Point by Design. Each event is built around a single material, a single craft, or a single component of history running through the design industry. The program brings designers, students, and industry professionals into direct contact with the experts, makers, archives, and manufacturers behind the materials they specify every day. The Source begins in High Point in November 2026 with The Craft and Commerce of Cloth.
