Diego Carneiro is a composer, conductor, and passionate cellist who has received awards and recognition in many countries for his music and his peace work with refugees and youth through his foundation, Friends of Music in the Americas. Cellist Diego Carneiro is one of the most distinguished Brazilian young artists and conductors of his generation. Diego was born in Belem, Brazil in the Amazon region. He studied cello, piano, viola da gamba and orchestral conducting in the universities of MO Columbia (USA), Trinity College of Music (England) and the Haute Ecole de Musique (Switzerland), where he obtained his bachelor and master degrees.Diego received a Rotary Peace Fellowship was in 2024 which he pursued in Makerere University Uganda. There he launched his ongoing Orchestrating Peace through Music Initiative. He has journeyed around the globe bringing his message of peace through music to refugees, young people, and their elders. He performed his composition, entitled Paths to Peace at a plenary session during the Rotary International Convention in Calgary.
