The loss of John Prine during the pandemic silenced one of music’s most distinctive voices and one of the greatest songwriters of his generation. His remarkable catalogue of songs continues to inspire audiences and fellow musicians around the world.
Long-time Prine admirer and acclaimed Belfast songwriter Anthony Toner has assembled a special trio for an evening dedicated to celebrating Prine’s life, music and enduring legacy.
The programme will feature songs spanning Prine’s extraordinary career, from classics on his landmark 1971 self-titled debut, including Sam Stone, Hello in There and Spanish Pipedream, through beloved favourites such as Angel from Montgomery, Souvenirs and Grandpa Was a Carpenter and many more.
Joining Anthony for this unique performance are two highly respected musicians: John McCullough on piano and Nick Scott on bass and harmony vocals.
Blending exceptional musicianship, heartfelt performances and plenty of good humour, the evening will offer a songwriter’s perspective on Prine’s unique creative genius. Expect fine playing, memorable songs and engaging stories from three of Northern Ireland’s most accomplished musicians.
