The Song Circle
The Song Circle is a welcoming drop-in singing group to come together and learn beautiful, simple songs and harmonies taught by ear. You do not need any music or singing experience to come and sing with us, all songs are simple to learn and are taught on the day - this group is for anyone and everyone who enjoys singing.
This session will celebrate Samhain with songs themed around fire and folklore.
The Song Circle is a welcoming space for all to sing regardless of experience, training, background or identity. We run drop-in singing groups and singing walks with all of the connection of group singing and none of the barriers of a regular commitment. We are a part of the Natural Voice Network.
The Session
This session will be held in the light and welcoming space of The Art Room, The Salisbury Centre, Edinburgh. We will begin with a stretch and vocal warm up before we begin, in total there will be an hour and a half of singing with a break halfway for a cup of tea.
Every session is different with changing songs, seasons and themes (as well as voices and faces!), we sing a variety of songs at each session, these are from all over the world and some are new, some old, their common thread is that they are simple to learn in a short space of time. We will take time to honour the songwriters, stories, history and origins before each song.

Please note: To create a peaceful space for everyone this event is a phone free space. If you need to use your phone urgently please step out, you are welcome to come back in whenever you are ready. Please don't take voice recordings/videos/photos during the session, we will email you the song list afterwards so that you can look up the songs if you want to sing them at home.
Please note: this is an adults only space, however we are exploring the possibility of doing some family friendly events in the future.

PLEASE NOTE: This session will run from 3 - 5pm, We will start promptly at 3pm so please aim to be there 5 -10 minutes early to get settled in.
