ARTIST BIOS:
fanny kearse
fanny kearse, a Black-Queer-Jewish-Disabled human, is a recovering people-pleaser & overachiever. A late bloomer, dreamer & community tender, their art explores themes of self-reclamation & connection to land, grief as a guide, pain as a portal to the divine and the joy of unbecoming. In 2021 they won the Harold Green Theatre Monologue Competition. In 2023 fanny published their first book of poetry & prose. She holds an AiRs residency, sits on the boards: Curtain Razors, All Bodies Dance Project and Black & Rural. You can find fanny curating multidisciplinary art experiences on the unceded, unsurrendered Coast Salish Territories where they are living out the wildest of their dreams with her co-creator at life and art, Que.
Kinfolk Nation- February 19th guest
Kinfolk Nation, Lady Dia & Trophy are a musical duo currently exploring “The Birth of the New Jazz: the Sound of Ubuntu (I Am Because You Are)”. They are storytellers coming from the fars & beyond’s of the Kinfolk Nation; a creative tribe who carry storied spirit & song. “Last night I dreamt about taking over the world with the Kinfolk Nation. I know it sounds crazy, but it’s the best dream I’ve had in a while. We are Kinfolk Nation, free like the Negmawon & guided by the philosophy of Ubuntu. We are building a Nation! Everyone is welcome... but only if you have love ".
As and When- March 19th guest
As And When is a duo featruing Thule van den Dam (she/her) and Hayley Sullivan McInerney (she/her). They create interdisciplinary work using elements of music, theatre, and design. By juxtaposing live performance and technological manipulation, they engage with how memories are constructed and transformed and how nostalgia for the mundane becomes transcendent.
Thule van den Dam is a classically trained violinist, composer, and dramaturg. Hayley Sullivan McInerney is an accomplished actor and has extensive experience with using technology and voice in composition. The synergy of these mediums – traditional and electronic, literary and embodied – elevates their artistic expression to new innovative methods.
Following a showcase presentation with Tara Cheyenne Performance in 2023, they were invited back to do a Startle Reflex Residency in March, 2024
