Sometimes the most remarkable discoveries await us behind a locked door.Theatre33 invites you to a warm and heartfelt production about rebuilding relationships between parents and children, rediscovering lost connections, and finding the courage to tear down walls—even those built with the best of intentions.
Inspired by the beloved novel The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett, this adaptation reimagines the story in a very different setting. Instead of a mysterious Scottish manor in the 19th century, the action unfolds in modern-day America at a modest roadside motel, where a father and his two teenage daughters are forced to live after he loses his job and falls into depression.
Spending their summer days by a swimming pool closed for repairs, the girls befriend the motel manager, the daughter of the cleaning staff, and an energetic, cheerful housekeeper. Through these unexpected friendships, they gradually come to understand the true value of family.
Based on the novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett
Original adaptation and direction by Marianna Chebotaryova
