About this Event
Life is, broadly speaking, very difficult. At The School of Life, we often return to a line by Seneca: “What need is there to weep over parts of life? The whole of it calls for tears.” We might laugh - darkly - at the daily challenges! But crucially, we believe that life becomes ever less sad the more we can come together with others and admit to the difficulties, in an atmosphere of warmth and fellow feeling.
That’s why we’ve created our Conversation Evenings, a regular time to gather and laugh, reflect, connect at depth and reassure one another about the pains, joys and uncertainties of everyday life.
Our Conversation Evenings are grounded in the solemn belief that many pains have no cure - except for the immense consolation of company. No expertise is required to attend, just a willingness to listen, reflect, and share. The aim isn’t to fix anything, but to leave feeling a little lighter, a little less alone; gently reminded that we don’t have to carry everything by ourselves. The event is hosted by a School of Life Faculty Member.
Please note this is free and is Pilot Event 5, taking place on 26 February, and we only have 30 spaces. The event might be photographed for promotional purposes.
