The Rutland Arms has a fascinating history dating back to the 19th century. Originally the home of Samuel Dutton, a former Mayor of Chesterfield, the building later became the Rutland Arms and eventually the Rutland Hotel. It has survived two major fires nearby and has stood alongside St Mary & All Saints Church for generations.
But it's the stories from the building's past that make this location particularly intriguing. Local accounts tell of Hannah Owens , a young servant who worked at the hotel in the 1870s, whose spirit is reportedly seen as a White Lady moving through the building.
